Europeana plays a key role in making sure “the cultural heritage sector remains interoperable and efficient”. The continuous development and maintenance of the Europeana Data Model (EDM) enables data exchange of cultural heritage metadata and guarantees its interoperability. The model has been designed in a decentralised way as EDM “profiles” have been developed without Europeana having to update the core model. While this has enabled the involvement of the whole community in the development of EDM, it also raises new questions.
In order to understand the need of the community in terms of governance of the Europeana Data Model, the Europeana Network has initiated a EuropeanaTech taskforce that aims to set principles for future governance of EDM as well as its profiles and extensions.
To set up the ground for governing recommendations we’re now reaching out to you and ask for your input through this survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/PYCWMKM
The deadline for filing it in is the 5th of July.
If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to contact us.
