thank you for this very good survey.
I'd like to point you to further tools that might be relevant:
- Link2WoD (http://link2wod.joanneum.at/) is a recent result from one of our projects, enriching text by linking concepts in the linked data cloud. A demonstrator (supporting German only) is online.
- KnowMiner (http://knowminer.at/) is a framework for knowledge discovery, providing modules for information extraction and retrieval (supports German and English out of the box, further languages can be added), an open source version is avialable.
- SAIL LABS (http://www.sail-labs.com/) provides commercial products for information extraction tasks such as named entity recognition from text, speech and text overlay in video, supporting many languages.
- SALERO Intelligent Media Annotation & Search (http://salero.joanneum.at/imas/): result from a recently finished project for annotating objects and their relations in images

> Betreff: Market study on technical options for semantic feature extraction
> Dear EuropeanaTech Community,
> In our task on Semantic Web and Linked Data we aim to develop and
> implement a research and innovation agenda complementing the central
> process for making Europeana "semantics aware" and to integrate it
> seamlessly in the emerging paradigm of Open and Linked Data.
> Part of this agenda is also to look for possible partner(ship)s that can
> support the semantic contextualisation of object metadata.
> As a result we produced a market study listing the technical options
> available as well as the relevant actors and technology providers as a
> basis for later decisions to be taken by Europeana independently of this
> project. The study can be downloaded on EuropeanaPro .
> You want to give feedback on this study? I will be happy to receive your
> comments via mail and/or discuss them with you directly at the Europeana
> Plenary in Leuven!
